    • Here are some pros and trade-offs of choosing a 2026 Hyundai Kona SE AWD. Whether its the right choice depends on what you care about weather value tech driving style etc. Whats Good About the 2026 Kona SE AWD Better Traction Safer in Bad Weather Adding AWD (Hyundais HTRAC in this case) gives you improved grip in rain snow ice or slippery roads. If you live somewhere with winter weather (like Milwaukee) that added stability can make a real difference. Hyundai USA +2 Earnhardt Auto Centers +2 All-Wheel Drive Enhances Stability and Handling The AWD model also gets a more sophisticated rear suspension (multi-link) which improves ride comfort and handling over rough or winding roads compared to the basic setup. Hyundai USA +1 Decent Power for Daily Driving The SE trim uses a 2.0-L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder producing about 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. Thats adequate for normal use: commuting highway merging city driving. Edmunds +3 Hyundai USA +3 Earnhardt Auto Centers +3 Good Fuel Economy for an AWD Small SUV For the SE AWD you get reasonable fuel efficiency given the AWD. Expected around 27 mpg city / 29 mpg highway / ~28 mpg combined for the SE AWD which is fairly efficient for what you get. Hyundai USA +2 modernhyundai.com +2 Modern Features Even in the Base Trim Even the SE gets nice tech and comfort: 12.3-inch touchscreen display Hyundai USA Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Hyundai USA +1 Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go Hyundai USA +1 Proximity key with push-button start & remote start Hyundai USA +1 Safety assists like Forward Collision-Avoidance Blind Spot Warning Rear-Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance etc. Hyundai USA +1 Competitive Price vs Higher Trims The SE AWD adds cost vs FWD SE but it is still much more affordable than stepping up to SEL Premium or Limited trims with the turbo engine. You get many safety and tech features without paying for all the premium extras. Cars.com +2 Edmunds +2 Warranty / Peace of Mind Hyundai offers strong warranty coverage which helps when buying new. Knowing things like the powertrain are well-covered helps reduce risk of costly surprises.

    • Amazing car!!!

I’m surprised by the one Star reviews. This car is great. I have the gas powered cheap version. I was out the door at 24,200$ with maintenance free for 3yrs, and power train warranty for 10yrs. Mine has a sport mode that makes it significantly quicker than the basic mode. I get about 35mpg and so far it’s been a really wonderful vehicle. Don’t overpay or buy the EV version though. This is a good basic car that should last forever. I read some other people’s reviews and they seem made up lol.
    • Pleasantly Surprised At The Power .

I'm not sure what those that say the car is way under powered are expecting but I have 0 trouble being onto the interstate , switching lanes , whatever , during rush hour traffic that's going bumper to bumper at 75+mph . From a stand still the 2.0 engine doesn't seem to be the problem but perhaps the CVT or computer as it acts like an older turbo from a stand still . Floor it and the car just kinda goes "what?" for about a second or 2 then takes off like a turtle that needs a nap until reaching about 10mph and then it's like it says "oh , we need to go fast" and accelerates quickly . Anything starting above 20mph I have lots of zip . The interior has been a bit of an adjustment as I came over from a truck so head room and shoulder/back room have been interesting . I have to remember to lower the seat when driving or my head rubs the ceiling slightly and the wrap around, like a hug, bucket seats and my wide shoulders didn't get along for about a month . All the bells and whistles the SEL model included have been fun , for the most part , to learn but the lane keep wants to keep the car a little left of center so I don't use it often . I'm still plenty safe in my lane but prefer just right of center if not center . If I have to gripe about anything so far it's the windshield wipers on the front . Though the car is only a few months old they act like they are years old and dry rotted whenever I have to use them . The standard speakers took a little getting used to but they don't sound half bad . FM radio reception is ok , SiriusXM has nothing of interest to me so I use my phone and Android Auto for the most part . Dual climate control rules! My favorite feature of the car is the headlights . They are very bright without being the least bit uncomfortable to the oncoming traffic unless the high beams are on . Coming from a truck that turned like a school bus to this thing that turns on a dime has been a blast , especially when parking in tight areas . Front wheel drive had also been a new thing to get used to with it being SO MUCH MORE responsive . When I first started looking for a new vehicle anything but Hyundai and Kia was completely off my radar but with so many publications giving this car such accolades and awards it grabbed my attention . The denim pearl blue I ended up purchasing sealed the deal for me .

I have the base trim in Mirage Green. I drive 60 miles one way to work and compared to my 2015 Jeep compass it gets amazing gas mileage. Has great features for a base model and it doesn’t break the bank. Love the wireless Apple car play. Overall I’m extremely happy with my new vehicle.
